It is normal to lose some hair each day, however, excessive hair loss is abnormal. It can be due to many causes.
Here are some causes of hair loss.
- Deficiency of vitamin A.

- Lack of iron in the body.
- Consumption of too much vitamin A (vitamin A toxicity).
- Inadequate intake of proteins.
- Lack of vitamin E.
- Excessive dandruff.
- Too much stress.
- Fungal scalp infections such as tinea capitis.
- Using hot water to wash your hair.
- Some medications used for the treatment of high blood pressure or arthritis.
- Lack of biotin vitamin.
- Pregnancy and childbirth.
- High fever.
- Excessive use of shampoo and hair dyes.
- Excess secretion of androgen hormones (male pattern baldness).
- Chemotherapy for cancer.
- Radiation.
- Under active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism).
- Diabetes mellitus.
- Connective tissue disorders such as lupus.
- Taking birth control pills that contain high concentration of progesterone.
- Losing weight too quickly.
- Deficiency of essential fatty acids.
- Excessive use of hair dryers.
- Pulling and rigorous brushing of the hair.
- Auto-immune hair loss.
- Congenital triangular alopecia.
- Natural thinning and losing of hair due to aging.
